Final Week for iOS Super Sevens and Super Hearts

This week (and a half!) is the last chance to get Super Sevens or Super Hearts for iOS.  I obviously will not be renewing my Apple developer account, so my apps will be removed from the App Store soon.

It’s also the last chance to try Climby Charts on your iPhone or iPad.  So please hurry and download it… 10 million times… or it will truly be lost in the app heap forever!

For Android users, all three of my games will remain on Amazon since there’s no annual fee over there.

It’s a Dark Day for ThumbSnail Studios…

I’m sure you’ve already heard the amazing news about ThumbSnail Studios and how it finally broke even and met its goal of being profitable enough to purchase one Safeway Select Chicken Bacon Alfredo Pizza (estimated retail value: $3.49 – $3.99).

However…

In what can only be the saddest development of all-time, it appears that Safeway has discontinued the greatest frozen pizza ever made.  Now, it’s possible that my local Safeway store has just stopped carrying it.  But… since I’ve, uh, checked at three different locations that are rather far apart, I fear for the worst.

Thus, my one and only goal will never truly be achieved…

My only hope now is that ThumbSnail Studios becomes profitable enough to afford a time machine so that I can go back in time and buy my favorite pizza.  That, however, seems too lofty a goal because I probably wouldn’t have $4 remaining after purchasing the time machine.  Therfore, the better course of action would be to go back in time and stop myself from becoming a developer in the first place.

The moral of this story is:

If there’s a frozen pizza that you like, do not become an app developer through Apple because the ~$110 in fees could instead be used to stock up on ~30 pizzas, thereby eliminating the future need to create a time machine.

Sigh…

But, in all seriousness, a big thank you to everyone who has bought one of my games!  I loved making them, and I hope you love playing them.

It’s a Glorious Day for ThumbSnail Studios!

Yes, that’s right, the unachieveable has been achieved, the impossible made possible.

Not only did ThumbSnail Studios just break even, ThumbSnail Studios is in the green.

What’s even more impressive is that if I:

-ignore my own purchase of my own game on Amazon through the use of Bing dollars
-ignore my own purchase of my own game on Amazon with Amazon coins
-ignore my own purchase of my own game on iTunes with leftover iTunes cash

ThumbSnail Studios is STILL IN THE GREEN.

Thus, my one goal has been reached!!!  Not only was I finally able to cover Apple’s developer fees, I actually have enough extra to buy one Safeway Select Chicken Bacon Alfredo Pizza.  (Even if it’s not on sale this week!)

A sincere “Thank you” goes out to everyone who has bought and played one of my games.  I really hope you’ve enjoyed them.

It truly is a glorious day!

New App Marketing Strategy: Stock Market Pricing!

The stock market is a strange beast.  In life, people typically want to wait for things to go on sale before buying them.  But with stocks, people like to buy them only after they increase in price!  So let’s try the same thing with apps and see what happens.

On the 6th of each month, Super Sevens and Super Hearts: Double Deck Cancellation Chaos will go up in price by $1.00.  They currently cost $2.99.  On May 6th, they will go up to $3.99.  On October 6th, they’ll max out at their final price of $8.99 before being taken off the market for good on November 4th.

However, unlike the stock market, there will be no crashes in price.  No freebies.  No deals.  So if you want to save, don’t delay!  Otherwise, you’ll have to pay a little more for your limited edition collector’s item.  (Seriously, you could be one of like only five people to have these apps on your devices!  Act now!)

ThumbSnail Studios is Dying

ThumbSnail is Dying

Unable to eat, ThumbSnail Studios is shutting down.

ThumbSnail Studios has yet to achieve its goal of making enough money to cover Apple’s developer fees plus a $3.49 frozen pizza.  It’s looking increasingly likely that this will never come to fruition.  Thus, ThumbSnail Studios is shutting down.  My games will be available until November 4th and then no more.

Furthermore, due to lack of interest, I will no longer be doing the weekly “Good Games Buried Deep” reviews.  It’s been fun finding and playing these games, but all future gems will remain lost in the ever-growing heap.  Maybe someone else can go digging for shinies.

Thanks to the few who have played my games and supported me.  I have one more game in the pipeline, but it’s more of a joke poking fun at the world of apps than something serious.  I’m hoping to have it ready for release by next month.

The Top Ten Best Card Game Apps of 2016

Having already established that the collective genius of the AIs in Super Sevens constructed a time machine to travel to the past, it’s no surprise that they also scouted the future in order to continue their chart dominance.  There will be a lot of hopeful entries in 2016, but only a few will emerge victorious.  Here are the Top Ten Best Card Games Apps for iOS and Android… in 2016:

#10:

When asked why Simple Sevens for Android was taken down by its iOS brother in a heated matchup, S.S. Android replied, “I just couldn’t handle that new Super Button.  Too much, too cool.  He deserved to beat me.  There’s no shame in second place.  What?  Tenth?  Are you sure?”

Simple Sevens for iOS refused to answer any questions.  He spent the whole interview pushing his Super Button while talking smack about his Android brother.  Though when prodded about only coming in 9th, he admitted his Super Button just couldn’t compare to all the features of Super Sevens.

When asked why he was able to occupy multiple slots on the top ten list, Super Sevens for Android answered, “I’m the only version with achievements.  They’re so addicting that I get downloaded multiple times.  Yes, all by the same person.  Yes, that person is my mother.  This interview is over!”

When it was not-so-subtly implied that Super Sevens for iOS was occupying a whole lot of spots on the charts due to some recent weight gain, Super Sevens for iOS responded, “Hey, man, I recently shrunk my file size.  And it’s not like I ever see you at the gym, Phil.”

Best Card Game Apps of 2013, Hidden Gems

You have to dig pretty deep to find some of the best games.  Just how hidden were these gems back in 2013?  They were so hidden they didn’t even exist!  But if they didn’t exist back in 2013, how did they make it onto a “Top Card Games for 2013” list?  The only possible explanation is that the AI in the game is so smart that it created a time machine to go back in time and promote itself!  Wow!  Amazing!

Maybe “The Merciless” AI should change its name to “The Master of Space and Time”?  If you couldn’t beat it in 2013, just think how much smarter it is in 2015!

Back in 2013, Simple Sevens recently just added a new “Super Button” the other day.  (Uh… this time warp stuff is getting very confusing…)  Anyways, try out the new button to sample some of the cool features of Super Sevens!

Super Sevens for iOS Update – Version 1.2

The latest version of Super Sevens for iOS just got posted to the store.  Nothing too major in this update;  I better optimized the background graphics so that the app file size is smaller and takes up less space.
